How We Work

At McLean Bible Church, we believe that “Christianity is a team sport.” Leading a church of our size and scope requires a team of leaders, all working together to turn our vision into reality.

First and foremost, hundreds of volunteer leaders work in partnership with the staff to lead the church. These volunteer leaders are the backbone of the ministry, working tirelessly and selflessly to impact Washington with the message of Jesus Christ. These volunteer leaders exemplify the “under-rower” spirit.

MBC's multi-campus environment is organized by a leadership structure that begins with our board of Elders, the Executive Leadership Team, Individual Campus Operations Teams, and a Core Services team that supports all MBC campuses.

ELDERS

Our Elders provide strategic leadership for the congregation. The Board of Elders is comprised of 9 men who possess the qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9, 1 Peter 5:1-7, and Acts 20:28. Their responsibilities include financial oversight, doctrinal integrity, policy matters and overall strategic direction. Visit the Elder bio page to learn more about our Elders.

SENIOR PASTOR

Our Senior Pastor, Lon Solomon is a visionary leader.  One of his favorite leadership sayings is, “Speed of the leader … speed of the team.” Lon sets both the direction and the pace for McLean Bible Church.

EXECUTIVE PASTOR

Reporting to Lon is Executive Pastor Denny Harris. Denny is responsible for all aspects of the church operations and ensures that everything is done with God-honoring excellence (Core value #8). Denny leads the Executive Leadership Team and reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) is comprised of MBC's Senior Pastor, Executive Pastor, Director of Operations, all Campus Pastors, the Director of Frontline, the Executive Producer of Creative Arts, Director of Leadership and Staff Development and the Director of MBC Tysons Kids Quest and The Rock. Their responsibilities include strategic and tactical planning, financial planning and management, new initiatives, pastor development and church-wide announcements and events. CAMPUS OPERATIONS TEAMS

Each MBC campus is managed locally by campus operations team led by the Campus Pastor. All campus based ministry divisions report directly to the Campus Pastor.  The standard membership of a campus operations team includes the Campus Pastor, Worship Leader/Executive Producer, Director of Adult Ministries, Director of Student Ministries, Director of Kids Quest, Director of Access, and a Core Services representative.

The responsibilities of each campus operation team include worship and ministry planning (logistics, announcements, etc.), leadership recruitment and development, and financial management all for the individual campus. Click here to view a directory of the current campus operations teams.

FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM

In addition to the executive and campus leadership, MBC's effort to recruit and train future ministry leaders is rooted on the Future Leaders Program This unique, one-year leadership program is designed to develop the next generation of church leaders with the hope that many will transition into permanent employees of MBC/Frontline. We provide hands-on ministry experience in a safe but challenging environment where young leaders can gain valuable experience and explore God’s call on their lives.
