Advent Devotional | Day 20
December 21, 2018
A Message of First Importance | Friday, Dec. 21
God through Paul tells us there is nothing more important than what he is about to say: Christ died for our sins and was buried and resurrected in accordance with the Scriptures. No one else has done that. Those considering Christianity should look at the resurrection. Everything hinges on it. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then Christianity is totally false. But if Jesus did rise from the dead, then we must listen to what He said. An honest look at the resurrection will show it is real. Think about one person in your sphere of influence whom you can talk to about Jesus’ resurrection. Know that this is of far more importance than their Christmas travel plans or wish lists. Talk to them and see what God does.
What are some practical ways we can introduce Jesus’ life and resurrection into our everyday encounters with people?
God, we pray that You would help us have this kind of conversation today about the most important reality in the universe. We pray that today You would bring people to understand this truth and to put their trust in Jesus. Give us boldness and give them openness to hear and believe that which is of first importance. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
Use your sphere of influence on social media to spread the word about our Christmas Eve services. Whether it’s a post, story, or tweet, make sure your friends and family know they can join you on Christmas Eve.
