Kid's Quest

Kid’s Quest offers programs for newborn through fifth Grade during service times at most MBC campuses. We’re igniting the future for Christ by helping children discover God in a personal way. At Kid’s Quest, we “THINK ORANGE” because when the church and family work together, we have a greater impact on a child’s spiritual growth. It is our prayer that we help lay a solid foundation of truth that will guide children in their lifelong quest to become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Kid's Quest at Tysons

A person's spiritual beliefs are usually formed by the time they’re 13. Our vision is to come alongside parents and guardians, the primary spiritual trainers, in guiding children in their lifelong quest to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Our strategy is to THINK ORANGE. When the light of the church (YELLOW) and the heart of the family (RED) partner together, we can have a greater impact on a child's spiritual growth than if we work alone.

When we THINK ORANGE, we help every child experience 5 catalysts critical to growing their faith. Children need:

  1. A really big God they can trust no matter what. We aim to teach and model to children that God is big enough to handle anything. Matthew 22:37-39
  2. Strong Biblical teaching to help them make wise choices. We teach children to make decisions based on absolute truth, not circumstances. Proverbs 3:5-6
  3. Engaged parents who know where they are spiritually. We equip parents with tools to build faith and Godly character in their children. Deuteronomy 6:7-9
  4. Another voice saying the same thing as their parents. We encourage our leaders to connect with children as friends and mentors. Philippians 2:15-16
  5. Someone who believes what they believe. We create a place for open and honest dialogue so children can be encouraged in their faith by friends. Acts 2:42-47
Early Childhood

Infants, Crawlers, Walkers & Hikers: Newborns – 24 months

We help little ones learn that God’s House is a safe and caring place. Leaders use play, talking, care-giving and singing to familiarize each child with God’s name and His love.

Navigators & Little Adventurers: 25 months – 3 years

Our volunteers prepare toddlers for preschool by giving them opportunities for community and small group experiences. Leaders teach Bible stories centered on a monthly verse. They use guided-play, crafts, singing, and praying.

Explorers & Pathfinders: 3 years – Pre-Kindergarten

Preschoolers begin with free play and an activity. They go to the Treehouse for large group that creatively teaches a Bible lesson and engages them in worship. They return to small groups for crafts, games and activities centered on a Bible truth.

Elementary

Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Our mission is to encourage children to grow daily in their personal relationship with Christ by strengthening their foundation of the Bible and helping them become witnesses to their peers. Elementary kids experience:

1. Explore: Fun, creative activities designed to pique their curiosity about the day's portion of the Big God Story.

2. Discover: During large group, children participate in discovering God's Word through Bible verse memorization, interactive storytelling techniques, and worship, as a response. It starts 10 minutes into service.

3. Respond: Children divide into specifically assigned small groups to reflect on what the Holy Spirit is teaching them and respond through creative activities and games.

4. Bless: Children end with a prayer or biblical encouragement from their leader or sometimes one another.

Awana

Each week, more than 2.8 million kids from ages 2-18 take part in Awana through more than 38,000 churches in 113 countries.  Centered on the gospel, Awana uses Scripture memory in a fun, exciting environment to teach children and youth to know, live and share the gospel and to serve Christ locally and globally.  Awana stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed!" (2 Timothy 2:15).
