Technical Arts Ministry

Do you love to work behind the scenes? We have several volunteer opportunities available in the Technical Arts Ministry. Please contact Marvin for additional information. We look forward to serving with you!

Note - the positions below can be filled on a weekly or per service basis depending on your schedule. Let us know what best works for you!

MAIN SERVICES

Producer
Time commitment: Saturday 4-9pm, Sunday 7am-2pm
Goal: Ensure Tysons service is running on schedule with minimal issues
Responsibilities: Wear headset to ensure queues for service are met, run Planning Center Online live, communicate with stage manager for mic checks, go to person when need arises for distributing print outs to band, Worship leaders, etc.
 
ProPresenter Operator
Time commitment: Saturday 4-9pm or Sunday 7am-2pm
Goal: Run all media elements for weekend services
Responsibilities: Advance slides and medial elements throughout service for worship lyrics and sermon notes.
 
Camera Operator
Time commitment: All or one weekend service
Goal: Operate camera for live broadcast and IMAG
Responsibilities: Running a video camera in main auditorium under the direction of the video director.
 
Stage Manager
Time commitment: Saturday 3-9pm or Sunday 7am-2pm
Responsibilities: Oversee the activities of the stage during weekend services, providing valuable communication between the backstage talent, the front-of-house crew, and the technical support crew.
 
Tech on Call
Time commitment: Saturday 4-9pm or Sunday 7am-2pm
Goal: Main point of contact for Group Room AV Issues
Responsibilities: Check all group room spaces to ensure AV equipment is working before each service. Be available via radio for when issues arise and help volunteers troubleshoot issues in rooms
 
BROADCAST ROOM
 
Broadcast Technician
Time commitment: Saturday 5-9pm, Sunday 6:30am - 2pm
Goal: Make sure service is going to all campuses (both internet and multi-sites)
Responsibilities: Turn on all lobby TVs, set up solo clips for all campuses, start recording & streaming on 316 players, start all records before services, record each individual service on Capture Macs, view all service playback videos to ensure successful broadcasting (inc. internet streams, app stream, Roku feed, IMAG/main feed)
 
Editor
Time commitment: Sunday 1:30pm-4pm
Goal: Edit services for posting
Responsibilities: Edit main sermon for web, microsite and blended service for playback, additional campus services if local preaching, and special elements (for example, child dedications, baptisms, etc.)
 
Content Poster
Time commitment: Sunday 2-5pm
Goal: Make service content available online
Responsibilities: Take edited sermon and post to main website, fill in all metadata, post special feature videos to YouTube, post blended service as private on Vimeo, post Microsite video and post to Vimeo
 
Media Editor-in-chief
Goals: Review, curate, and ensure quality material from weekend services, and makes service content available on appropriate platforms
Responsibilities: Combine both editor and content poster roles and responsibilities, oversees final products to confirm that all content is relevant, meaningful, and biblical.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
 
Data Analyst
Time commitment: anytime and can be done remotely.
Goal: Ensure data integrity for church database
Responsibilities: Merge duplicate records in church database. Enter data into dashboard that church staff uses to analyze congregant data.

Network Admin/Help Desk Support
Time commitment: varies - some work could be done remotely
Responsibilities: Server/Desktop support of PCs and Macs. Special projects when upgrades arise. Phone system support. Answering support requests via ticket tracking system.

Web Master
Time commitment: varies - could be done remotely
Goal: Looking for a savvy, self-starter to assist with the management of mcleanbible.org. This volunteer must be well-organized and detailed oriented with experience using the Drupal website platform. Responsibilities: supporting the alignment of the MBC website to effectively communicate the Gospel to both external and internal stakeholders, with the goal of reaching people for Christ.
Job Functions: 

  • Manage day-to-day updates and developments on website.
  • Troubleshoot web issues and work with external vendors to implement solutions.
  • Regularly monitor and report on website and app analytics in an effort to improve user experience and functionality.
  • Make recommendations for improved efficiency and general navigation of website.

Marvin Haines joined the McLean Bible Church (MBC) staff in May of 2001 just after graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and a minor in Music. Marvin currently serves as the Director of Technical Arts and oversees the churches IT Department, Live Production Team and Media Ministry across our five campuses as well as Jill's House which is a private non-profit organization for children with special needs. Marvin is also very a very active trumpet player in the DC area. Marvin has played in the Capital Wind Symphony, the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra and the Belmont Brass Quintet. Marvin recently joined the newly formed Worship Orchestra of Washington which has performed twice at the Kennedy Center in the last year and also recorded their first album “Heroes and Stories”. Marvin lives in Leesburg, VA and enjoys building furniture and being outdoors in his time off.
