Volunteer at Access

Volunteers are the backbone of our ministry and we need you to help us stand strong! Access has many volunteer opportunities where you can serve individually, as a couple, with your family or even with your small group or school! You can serve once, weekly, bimonthly or monthly. It's your choice!

Volunteer at Tysons Access

CHILDREN

BEAUTIFUL BLESSINGS SUNDAY SCHOOL

Teacher

Access is looking for compassionate volunteers interested in teaching young children with special needs. Teachers are responsible for welcoming parents and children, leading the lesson and facilitating related activities. Teachers should have a solid understanding of each week’s lesson, so they can support children in learning about God, Jesus Christ and the Bible.  

Requirements:  Arrive 15 minutes before each service to start greeting students, and stay until the last student is picked up (approximately 10 minutes after services finishes).

Assistant / Helper

Serve children in Beautiful Blessings by volunteering as a classroom helper. Helpers develop meaningful relationships with specific children on Sunday mornings and support that child as they respond, participate and interact with the lesson.

Requirements:  Arrive 15 minutes before each service to start greeting students, and stay until the last student is picked up (approximately 10 minutes after services finishes).

 

BREAK OUT RESPITE PROGRAM

Room Captains

A room captain is responsible for speaking with parents (making sure they are signed in), as well as being in charge of helping the group move from room to room. Must be comfortable with leadership assigning volunteers to children and helping his/her room with any other needs that may arise throughout the night.

Requirements:  Arrive 30 minutes prior to programming to help with set up; leave 20 minutes when program is over after helping clean up/put away toys.

Buddies

You will be assigned to a buddy or group of kids to stay with for the night and will help engage your buddy in each activity, move from room to room, and possibly be an extra person to help walk buddy to bathroom and nurse station.

Requirements:  Arrive 30 minutes prior to programming to help with set up; leave 20 minutes when program is over after helping clean up/put away toys.

Set-Up Team

Arrive 1-2 hours before Break Out events to help set up rooms with toys and activities for the night.

Take-Down Team

Help put away all toys and activities that were set up for the night. Must be willing to stay 30 minutes after program ends.

 

SIBLINGS ONLY

Lead Volunteer

Seeking volunteers, preferably one guy and one gal, to help facilitate discussions and lead activities for participants once a month for sibling program discussion; topics and questions will be provided.

Requirements:  Meet with the program coordinator via email or in person semi-monthly to go over discussion topics and questions. This group meets once a month for five hours. Please plan to arrive early to help with setup and review the schedule for the evening.

Volunteer

We are seeking energetic volunteers aged 13+ to mentor and provide companionship to our younger siblings, as well as to assist with activities, supervise participants during activities and build meaningful relationships with our siblings. 

Requirements:  We meet monthly on designated Fridays from 5:30-10 pm at MBC Tysons. Please plan to arrive early to help with setup and review the schedule for the evening.

YOUNG ADULTS

FRIENDSHIP CLUB

Teacher

Access is looking for volunteers interested in teaching and discipling young adults with special needs. Teachers share these gifts through leading worship, Bible study, and discussion with Friendship Club students. Teachers should have a solid understanding of each week’s lesson so that they are prepared to share God’s word and help develop a deeper relationship with Christ.

Requirements:  Arrive 20 minutes before service begins to pray; 1-3 hours per week attending; serve weekly, every other week or monthly. Service times are 6:30 pm Saturday, and Sunday at 9 am, 10:45 am and 12:30 pm.

Come make a new friend as a Friendship Club helper! Helpers develop meaningful relationships with specific young adults on Sunday morning and support those students as they respond, participate, and interact with the lesson.

Requirements:  Arrive 20 minutes before service begins to pray; 1-3 hours per week attending; serve weekly, every other week or monthly. Service times are 6:30 pm Saturday, and Sunday at 9 am, 10:45 am and 12:30 pm.

 

ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES DAY PROGRAM (A.D.D.P.)

Support Volunteer

Develop fun meaningful relationships with the adults with special needs while assisting program activities. Help by supporting individuals / small groups during program activities on site or on community outings. Encourage participants to learn more about God, engage in activities and reach individual program goals.

Requirements:  Serve weekly, one or more days or sign up for special events. Arrive 20-30 minutes prior to program start to pray and socialize with the participants.

 

SOUL SISTERS

Volunteer

We are looking for female volunteers to facilitate an amazing group of ladies, who love getting together to hang out and learn about God through a semi-monthly Bible study as well as some fun socials throughout the year. Volunteers are responsible for leading discussions during Bible study, helping to plan and attend events, and fostering Christ-centered relationships among the ladies attending.

Requirements:  Serve 1-2 times a month at the Soul Sisters Bible study, and help with socials when available.
