Discipleship Groups

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Matthew 28:19-20

Who is spiritually pouring into you, and who are you pouring into?

We’re building a culture of discipleship at McLean Bible Church. A disciple is a follower of Jesus who lives in biblical community and is committed to becoming more like Him through obeying, serving and sharing Him with others. Disciples are made by an intentional process of mature believers helping younger believers to step across – and stay across – that discipleship line. It’s a repeatable process that continually creates mature believers who disciple others.

Discipleship groups train us to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ so that we may make an evangelistic impact on Washington DC. We believe that this is best done in relational groups where biblical disciples can be made and further developed. Every fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ needs strong relationships with fellow believers.

Groups meet together regularly, sometimes over a meal. They do a study together, and prayer is a key element of each group. See the discipleship groups available at your MBC campus.

Discipleship Groups at Tysons

Why Discipleship Groups?

McLean Bible Church exists to make an evangelistic impact on Washington DC with the gospel message of Jesus Christ, one person at a time.  We believe that this is best done in relational environments where biblical disciples can be made. Groups are the primary vehicle by which we carry out the mission of McLean Bible Church.

Our groups are led by intentional leaders and meet weekly in homes around the DC area and at MBC Tysons. The group provides opportunity for honest, transparent, and authentic relationships where each member is actively becoming a disciple who makes disciples of Jesus Christ.

We hope that everyone who is a part of MBC finds a place in a Discipleship Group.

What happens in a "typical" group meeting?

Every group has its own personality, but some common elements happen in most group meetings. Groups typically spend some time building relationships and getting to know each other. Groups also do a study together. Some groups focus strictly on the Bible while others rotate through Biblical and topical studies. Studies are chosen by the group and approved by the small group leader and staff. Prayer is also a key element to typical group meetings. Many people find that praying in groups is their favorite part of group life. A typical group meeting lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
