Bringing Hope & Healing to Families Impacted by Adoption & Foster Care

Join us for MBC's simulcast of the 2019 Empowered to Connect Conference, a two-day event presented by Show Hope and the Karyn Purvis Institue of Child Development. Come experience practical teaching in a safe and supportive community as we work to equip families, churches, and professionals to better serve children impacted by adoption and foster care.

Featuring Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) methods developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at TCU to help bring attachment and connection in families.

The content is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care, and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors and therapists, childcare providers, and extended family members.

Continuing Education

The ETC Conference has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for 11 continuing education contact hours. If you would like to receive a certificate, you must preregister at the below link and select one of the Simulcast Event registration options. Please note that simulcast viewers seeking NASW credit will be required to complete a post-test and receive a score of 80% or above to receive a certificate.

All professionals interested in receiving continuing education credit must register and pay a separate fee at etc2019continuingeducation.eventbrite.com

Who would benefit from the content of this conference?

Besides foster and adoptive families and those considering fostering or adopting, there are many others in our community who would find this training helpful. Teachers, counselors, children's and youth ministers, CASA volunteers, judges, healthcare professionals, therapists, and social workers all serve families and children from hard places and would find TBRI and this conference beneficial.

Childcare

Limited childcare is available for this conference. If you are in need of childcare, please contact Tahisha Marquez.

Logistics & Parking

Doors will open at 9:30 am with the conference running from 10 am to 6 pm each day in Community Room A (enter on bottom floor of garage through Door 1). Light refreshments and lunch are included both days.
