WHO IS INVITED TO THIS EVENT? Anyone in 6th-12th grade is invited to join.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Registration for NYA is $25. Online registration will remain open until 5:00 pm on 12/31. After that, students are welcome to register on site. We will upload a paper application the day of for download and will also have some on arrival for parents to fill out.
CAN I LEAVE EARLY? Yes. While we encourage students to stay all night, it is not required. However, in order to leave, your parent/guardian must physically come inside and sign you out. Since Virginia’s curfew laws prohibit drivers under the age of 18 who hold a driver’s license from driving between midnight - 4 a.m., High School Students must be checked out early by a parent or guardian. You will not be allowed to return after leaving.
WHERE DO I SIGN OUT? If a friends' parent is picking you up, your parents must send an email to [email protected]g giving permission, with student's name and grade. Sign out at the ROCK Welcome desk (1st floor)
WILL THERE BE FOOD? There will be food served throughout the night-at no extra cost. **NO OUTSIDE BOTTLES OR DRINKS WILL BE ALLOWED IN**
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE? After arrival and check in, students will have access to activities on the first floor until the main stage program begins. After program ends, both floors of the church will be open. From then until pick-up, students can go between the different activities on the first and second floors of the church. Volunteers are stationed at each activity, and additionally, our volunteer security team will patrol all exits along with our uniformed officers all night.
ARE THERE SEPARATE AREAS FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL? While students are able to go between both the first and second floors at any time during the night to participate in a variety of fun activities, there are some rooms with activities geared towards specific age groups.
WHAT ARE THE TIMES FOR THE EVENT: Doors open at 9:00 pm for check-in and on-site registrations. Pick up is at 6:00 am the next morning.
WHAT IF I DO NOT REGISTER ONLINE? To avoid longer check-in time, we highly encourage advance online registration. Anyone wishing to register after online registration closes at 5:00 pm on Dec. 31st must register at the door. A paper application will be uploaded online on 12/25 and will also be available at the door. Anyone registering after 5:00 pm on 12/31 will need the paper registration with their personal information PLUS the liability form signed by a parent/guardian.
DO I NEED A TICKET IF I REGISTER ONLINE? Everyone who registers online for New Year's Aid will be checked in electronically on arrival through our database. You will know online registration and payment was successful because you should immediately receive a confirmation email. You do not need to bring this with you.
WILL I NEED SPENDING MONEY? All activities and most food at the event are free. There will be some merchandise and optional food items available for purchase.
