Spring Opioid Symposium

The opioid crisis is impacting communities across the nation, including Prince William County.  Join local, state, and federal experts to learn about addiction, prevention, recovery, and the impact on our community.

12:30 Documentaries: “Chasing the Dragon” and “Heroin: The Hardest Hit”

2:00   REVIVE! Training: During this 90-minute program, participants will learn about opiates, opioid addiction, types of naloxone, and rescue breathing.  They will gain the knowledge, skills and tools to administer naloxone, the only effective way to reverse an opioid overdose.  Participants will also receive free Narcan.

Workshops

Attendees can learn about the following topics related to opioids and prescription drug abuse:

Opioids 101

An introduction to addiction, including the impact of drug abuse on the brain and body.

Prevention

Learn how parents, loved ones, and the community can work together to prevent opioid use and misuse.

Treatment & Recovery

Learn why opioid addiction is so hard to overcome, discuss common treatment options, and hear stories of recovery.

Law Enforcement

Federal, state, and local agencies will share their experiences with the opioid crisis, and how they respond to opioid abuse and overdoses in our community.

Senior Citizens

The impact of opioids on seniors is frequently overlooked.  Learn how to keep older loved ones safe and secure.
