MBC Internship

Make your life count

How is God calling you to spend your life for His glory? If God is calling you to serve Him through any form of vocational ministry or if you’re wrestling with the possibility of that call, the MBC Internship program is designed for you.

APPLY TODAY

The MBC Internship is a full-time, paid, one-year program which combines intentional training and ministry experience. You will spend about 80% of your time serving and leading in a ministry that aligns with your gifts and calling. Interns will be placed in ministries like Global Outreach, Students, Young Adults, and more. You will disciple members, work with staff and volunteers, lead outreaches, and facilitate projects of all kinds.

The rest of your time will focus on intentional training and development. Our prayer is that every intern will:
  • Grow to love Jesus more and more
  • Develop a philosophy of ministry which elevates healthy church and urgent mission
  • Discern God’s calling for your own life with greater clarity
  • Gain experience in critical areas of ministry development like teaching, sharing Jesus with nonbelievers, caring for and discipling believers in a local body, and servant leadership

The program begins July 7, 2020 and ends June 30, 2021. Applications will be accepted through February 29, 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who should apply for the MBC Internship?

The program is designed for young adults ages 20-32 who are walking closely with Jesus. Many of the applicants will feel a strong conviction that God is calling them to some form of vocational ministry. Others may be wrestling with that calling. Almost all of the applicants will have a bachelor’s degree. Some may have a master’s degree, especially from a seminary, but others may be just finishing up their undergraduate work.

When will I know if I’m accepted?

The application will close at the end of February, and we will be conducting interviews throughout March. Those who make it to the final round of interviews will be invited to spend a couple days with us at McLean Bible Church in April and will receive a decision by the end of that month.

What will the internship be like day-to-day?

For the majority of your time, you will be imbedded with a ministry at McLean Bible Church that fits your passions and gifting, and you will function as a staff member. Ministry always involves a few menial tasks, but this internship will not be about making coffee runs. You will serve meaningfully in your ministry, receiving real responsibility in disciple making and operations. The rest of your time will focus on intentional training, designed to help you develop as a faithful servant of Jesus.

In what ministries might interns serve?

Interns might serve in any of these ministries: global outreach, local outreach, young adults, youth, children, people with disabilities, worship, biblical training, counseling, and general pastoral ministry. Though we might not always be able to place accepted applicants in their first-choice ministry, we will work to find a placement that fits your passions and gifting.

Is the internship fully paid, or just a stipend?

The internship is fully paid. Interns will receive a salary and basic benefits, like healthcare. Interns will devote the entire year to their ministry and their training, so we ask that interns do not take other jobs during their internship.

Will there be opportunities to continue at McLean Bible Church after the internship?

Interns should assume that they will be at MBC for one year only. However, some interns may be offered long-term roles at MBC. Others may have the opportunity to enter a church planting residency or missionary residency at the end of their internship. It all depends on how God is leading you and what opportunities are available at the time at MBC.
