FAQs

Should I go if I don't really know anyone else who is going?

Definitely! The focus of the Men’s Retreat is getting connected with other men in community and growing spiritually, and there will be many different opportunities to meet new people during the weekend.  Also, there will be plenty of activities you can join in on and meet new people.

It looks like there is some time spent in meetings. Will I have some personal time to relax?

While the retreat is an awesome time to relax, it is also an opportunity for you to spend quality time with Christ and to learn more about Him.  You will be challenged in the general sessions to further your personal relationship with Jesus.

What if I'm not sure about my faith? Will I feel out of place among the others that attend?

The retreat is a great place for people discovering their faith. By spending time in this environment with other followers of Christ, it can help you sort out your thoughts. We will have an environment that is open to questions and honest conversations.

Can I bring friends who are not currently attending McLean Bible Church?

Yes, provided they are at least 18 years of age. We are excited for you to bring friends to hear about Christ and how to start a relationship with Him or how to grow in their faith.

Are scholarships available if finances are a challenge?

We believe finances should not get in the way of attending the men’s retreat. If you need financial assistance, please email mocomen@mcleanbible.org as soon as possible and we will contact you with more details.

What time should I arrive?

Check-in opens at 4 pm. The Skycroft Conference Center is approximately an hour from MoCo when the traffic is NOT heavy. We encourage you to leave the DC area prior to the evening rush hour.

Are there costs in addition to the registration fee?

The only additional costs will be your transportation to and from the retreat, and money for Friday dinner if you cannot arrive prior to the retreat dining room closing at 7 pm.  All other meals will be provided including lunch before you leave.

How many people will be in a room?

The current configuration is that all the men will be in one large room with multiple bunk beds.  This is subject to change should the number of attendees change, but everyone should plan on sharing a room.

Should I bring linens and towels?

Yes.  Retreaters should bring their own sleeping bag or bed linens, towels, pillow, etc.

Does everyone sleep at the retreat center?

Yes, we are blessed to have a facility designed to host everyone, and the cost is based on an all-inclusive price for lodging, meals and meeting space for all participants.

What should I bring to the retreat?

Clothes

  • Comfortable indoor clothing to wear around the retreat center
  • Sweaters/sweatshirts/hoodies for the cooler nights
  • Winter wear depending on temperature. Meals will require walking outside to the dining hall. There is also a firepit that we will be hanging out at during the evenings. Dress appropriately.
