MBC Teaching Pastors

DAVID PLATT | Pastor-Teacher
 

In September of 2017, David Platt was confirmed as the Pastor Teacher at McLean Bible Church. David’s passion for both missions and discipleship has brought renewed commitment and energy as the church readies itself to respond as the Lord leads.

Previously, he served as President of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, followed by Master's degrees of Divinity and Theology and a Doctorate of Philosophy from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David is the author of Radical, Radical Together, Follow Me, and Counter Culture. He also founded Radical, a ministry devoted to disseminating disciple-making resources so the Gospel can be made known to the ends of the earth.

David and wife Heather have four children Caleb (12), Joshua (10), Mara Ruth (8), and Isaiah (5).

 
 

 
MIKE KELSEY | Teaching Pastor | MBC Montgomery County Pastor
 
Mike Kelsey is Campus Pastor at the McLean Bible Church Montgomery County location, and a member of the Teaching Team. Prior to, Mike served faithfully in other pastoral roles including, Pastor of MBC’s Frontline Silver Spring. Born into a strong lineage of Washington, D.C. pastors, that includes both his father and grandfather, Mike grew up with a strong foundation in the Gospel. He is married to his college sweetheart, Ashley, and they have three young children, Ava, Michael III, and Jackson.
 
 
 

 
LON SOLOMON | Senior Pastor Emeritus

After faithfully serving as Senior Pastor of McLean Bible Church for more than 37 years, Lon Solomon moved to Pastor Emeritus status in September 2017. The church is grateful for the countless ways God used Lon’s wise and godly leadership through its tremendous growth and many transitions. Lon will teach periodically as his schedule allows. 

Lon received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by a Th.M. degree in Hebrew and Old Testament from Capital Bible Seminary, a Master’s degree in Near Eastern Studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctorate of Divinity degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

Lon and his wife, Brenda, have been married since 1974. They have four children.
