Event Staff - New City Network Assessment Retreat

McLean Bible Church serves as the North American Mission Board's DC Church Planter Assessment Center. Two to three times a year, we host prospective church planting candidates who intend to plant churches in Metro DC within the next year. This two-day assessment examines the strengths and weaknesses of candidates and their wives in the areas of calling, experience, marriage and family, emotional and spiritual health, communication, and leadership.

We need many volunteers throughout the weekend, and we welcome you even if you can only serve for a few hours! We begin setting up the night before Day 1 and conclude everything by 10 pm on Day 2.

Below are some examples of volunteer needs:

Food Hosts: shifts available Monday and Tuesday between 7 am and 5 pm

The Food Hosts are responsible for setting up and replenishing all meals, snack, drinks, coffee throughout the Assessment.

Greeters: Monday 7 am - Noon

The Greeter Team is responsible for welcoming guests and candidates as they arrive on Day 1.

Time Keepers: shifts available Monday and Tuesday between 7 am and 5 pm

The Time Keeper is responsible for ensuring that all participants are sticking closely to the Assessment Retreat schedule.

Tech Team: needed Monday and Tuesday 7 am-5 pm, please serve at least one full day

The Tech Team is responsible for all audio/visual needs throughout the Assessment.

Concierge Team: needed Monday 4-7 pm

The Concierge Team helps direct candidates where to go for date night (at the end of Day 1). The Concierge Team should be very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and able to easily give directions to local restaurants and attractions.

Set-Up/Break-Down Team: shifts available Sunday 1-9 pm and Tuesday 12-8 pm

The Set Up/Breakdown Team handles all set up and tear down before and after the Assessment Retreat as well as set up needs during the Assessment. This volunteer team will be the first to arrive and the last to leave, but do not need to be present throughout the entire retreat.

Report Builders: needed Tuesday 4-10 pm

The Report Builders are responsible for capturing clear and concise notes during the After Party (Day 2). They will need to take digital notes (not handwritten) using Google docs. Notes will be built of an already-existing report and will only needed to be edited.

Prayer Team: 30 days prior to retreat only, does not need to be present for assessment

Each Prayer Team member is assigned a candidate couple whom they will begin praying the 30 days leading up to and through the Assessment Retreat. Each Prayer Team member will also need to write an encouraging card to their assigned candidates to be included in their welcome bags.
