Don and Sharon Hutchisson
Don & Sharon began their work among the Sursurunga people of Papua New Guinea in 1974, learning their unwritten language, analyzing it to develop an alphabet, studying the grammar, and eventually translating the Scripture into Sursurunga. Praise for the completion of the Sursurunga New Testament and its dedication in 2010 followed by the completion and printing of the hymnbook in 2012! Pray that the Sursurunga people would listen to the voice of God calling them to know Him and serve Him, making use of the New Testament and other helps available to them. Pray for completion, printing and distribution of the Sursurunga dictionary. Praise for well-said goodbyes and God's gracious closure (for a time) to dearly loved friends as the Hutchissons refocus on God's new tasks for them in the next season of ministry. They are also currently typesetting a Sursurunga dictionary.
MBC Missionary History: In 1961, Jim and Mary Hutchisson and their then-14-year-old son Don were among the five founding families of MBC. Years later when Don met Sharon, they both felt God calling them to pursue missions. See more about their story HERE.
