Minako came from a traditional family in Okinawa, Japan, to the U.S., to study linguistics, and while getting a Ph. D. at Georgetown University, she was befriended and led to Jesus through a ministry at McLean Bible Church. Since her conversion in 1991, her family members in Okinawa have also turned from ancestor worship to faith in Jesus. After graduating from Georgetown and working as a college professor in Massachusetts, Minako joined The Navigators in 1999, to share God's love with international students. Since then she has served in the DC area, Oregon, and Japan. In 2006, she was married to a wonderful husband, Richard, and together they minister to the Japanese people in the DC area. Minako also partners with her brother in Okinawa, who feeds and disciples underprivileged children in Okinawa. Minako's passion is to help people know Jesus and make Him known.
