Who We Are
MBC Montgomery County aims to serve the homeless in our city by initiating new efforts and partnering with local organizations already doing great work. A team of volunteers invests in the lives of these men, women, and children by sharing the Gospel and providing support to meet physical and spiritual needs.
Our Vision is to share the love of Jesus Christ in practical ways to bring about holistic change in the lives of many homeless in our city. We want to help meet immediate, tangible needs while developing relationships with those we encounter and sharing the Gospel with them.
There are two ways to get involved, either through Shepherd’s Table or Wilkins Avenue Women's Assessment Center.
Shepherd’s Table is a non-profit organization in downtown Silver Spring that offers a wide range of services to people who are homeless or in need. Check out shepherdstable.org for more info. Ways to serve at Shepherd’s Table:
- Serve dinner on the 3rd Monday of each month.
- Donate items such as food, clothing, toiletries, etc.
- Help with individual care such as nail treatments, haircuts, etc.
- Share your skills and interests to help us come up with new serving opportunities.
Wilkins Avenue Women’s Assessment Center is a 65-bed emergency shelter serving approximately 300 women per year. Case managers work with women to facilitate recovery and stability, as well as connect them with housing, medical, mental health, and social services. We want to partner alongside Interfaith as they serve homeless women and help them transition to a more stable life.
