Missionary Care

MBC currently supports over 41 full time missionaries who serve locally and globally.  There are many opportunities to partner with their work on the field to empower them and their ministry as they work to build His kingdom. Part of our role in the Global Church is to send, support, and continually encourage them.  We invite you to develop relationships, broaden your vision, and increase the impact of the Gospel by caring for our MBC supported missionaries.  There are a few ways you can do this below.

Advocacy Teams

Advocacy Teams are the most tangible expression of McLean Bible Church’s commitment to support our missionaries who are serving in cross-cultural environments, whether abroad or in the USA. We want our supported missionaries to each have a group at MBC who can help them connect to our church family.  An advocacy team is a group of people such as a Bible Study, friend group or family.  Once a group is formed, our Missionary Care Team will help connect you with a Missionary on our list who does not currently have an Advocacy Team, but who would like one.

As part of an Advocacy Team, you will communicate with, pray for, and stay connected to a missionary on a regular basis. You will also receive the missionary's monthly prayer requests/updates to actively pray, ask for updates/needs and communicate them back to Missionary Care Team if necessary, send occasional care packages to encourage them, and if the missionary comes to the DC area for a visit, their advocacy group may help organize it along with Missionary Care Team/GI Staff.  Help us show our missionaries in the field how much we care about and appreciate them!  To learn more about what Advocacy Teams do, see this form.

Volunteer Missionary Care Team

Join our Missionary Care Team!  Our Missionary Care Team is a core group of MBC attendees who are passionate about missions and want to make sure MBC supported missionaries feel cared for, prayed for and connected to our MBC church family.  The Missionary Care Team seeks to be a bridge between the congregation, the church staff, and MBC's missionaries.  If you are interested in learning more about missionary care at MBC and would like to speak with us, please fill out this form

Requirements/Roles:  Bi-weekly team meetings, monthly Global Impact Leader Meeting, and individual team roles.  Roles include weekly communication with missionaries, monitoring/responding to emails via the missionarycare inbox, POC between Advocacy Teams and GI Staff, website maintenance, help facilitating missionaries coming to DC area on furlough and more!

Other Ways to Serve

Even if you cannot commit to volunteering regularly, there are still plenty of ways you can support the missionaries listed on our MBC missionary page
  • Pray Continually for Our Missionaries:  Ephesians 6:18. Always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray specifically and earnestly for the missionary and his/her concerns.  Prayer requests and links to newsletters in the bios on our MBC Missionary Page
  • Give to a Missionary:  Many missionaries are able to serve through the gracious giving of their church families.  Links to give directly to missionaries can be found in their bios.
  • Host a Missionary:  Missionaries occasionally come home on furloughs for refreshment, education, to raise support and to visit with friends and family.  We need volunteers to host our missionaries for the duration of their visits, ranging from a single missionary to a family with 3-4 children. Visits usually range from 2-10 days.  If you are interested in caring for our missionaries in this way, please email [email protected].
